RTA of Central Maryland

RTA is the company that connects all Central Maryland. It includes some places as: Howard County, Anne Arundel County Northern Prince George’s County and City of Laurel.


Route 501/Silver operates between Baltimore airport and The Mall in Columbia hourly at most times (except overnight).


The service runs to Columbia Mall, Broken Land Park & Ride, Snowden Square, MD Food Center, Dorsey MARC Station, Arundel Mills and BWI.

ICC Bus (Montgomery County)

Route 201 links Baltimore airport with the Gaithersburg Park and Ride lot located at I-270 and MD 124 in Montgomery County.

The bus stops at Shady Grove Metro, the Georgia Avenue Park & Ride, the Burtonsville Park & Ride and Arundel Mills Mall.


To pick up the bus at the airport, go to the lower level of:

- Concourse A (Southwest)

- Concourse E (International Terminal)


The service drop-off passengers on the upper level.



- Weekdays: every hour from 05.00 am to 11.00 pm.

- Weekends: from 9.00 am to 11 pm.


MTA Bus Service

The company is Maryland Transit Administration.


- Route 17: links Baltimore airport to Parkway Center, Airport 100, Arundel Mills Mall, Park and the Patapsco Light Rail Stop.

- Route 99: weekday service from the airport that links with UMBC, CCBC Catonsville, Rolling & Security Blvd., Bloomsbury & Frederick, Liberty & Milford Mill and the Old Court Metro Subway Station.

WMATA (Washington, DC)

It is the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority.

It links Baltimore airport (BWI) with the Greenbelt Metro Station, in Maryland. The Greenbelt Metro Station connects to Metro Stations throughout Washington, DC, Virginia, Montgomery and Prince Georges Counties.


At the airport there are 2 WMATA Stops: Lower Level - International Concourse / Lower Level Concourse A/B.


Express/B30 service: runs every 40minutes from Baltimore airport.


- Weekdays: From 6.30 am to 10.30 pm (approximately).

- Weekends: From 09.10 am to 10.30 pm.

Trains links BWI Rail Station. To reach the station there are free shuttle buses that run from the airport terminal, the rail station is located 1 mile away.

Shuttle buses operate every 10-12 minutes from 5.00 am to 1.00 am every day.

During overnight hours -from 1.00 am to 5.00 am- shuttle buses run every 25-30 minutes.

To pick up the Amtrak Bus to reach Baltimore airport:

- From Washington, DC: Washington's Union Station.

- From Philadelphia, PA: 30th and Market Streets.

- From Wilmington, DE: M. L. King Blvd and French Street.

- From Alexandria, VA: 110 Callahan Drive.



There are shuttle buses that serve the airport to reach BWI Marshall Rail Station (located 1 mile from the terminal).


Stops at the airport are:

- Lower Level: in between door numbers 1-2, 8-9, 14-15 and 17-18.


Service runs daily. Hours:

- From 5 am to 8 pm - Every 6 minutes.

- From 8 pm to 1 am - Every 8 minutes.

- From 1 am to 5 am - Every 25-30 minutes.


Light Rail

MTA (Maryland Transit Administration) is the company that provides service to/from Baltimore Airport.

Location: Lower Level, next to Concourse E.


From BWI airport the service runs to Downtown Baltimore, Timonium and Hunt Valley.

Various hotels located in the vicinities as well as off-parking lots offer shuttle service to their customers. At Baltimore airport there are specific areas to pick up the services:

- Zones 1 & 3: Hotel shuttles.

- Zone 2: Off-airport parking shuttles.

- Zone 4 will be used by both hotels and off-airport parking companies

There is only one company that provides service at the airport: BWI Taxi Management.

The taxi rank is located outside of the Baggage Claim area (Lower Level of the Terminal).

This company serves the airport only (from the terminal). To reach the airport from other places passengers must consult their local cab company.
